PROCUREMENT & SUPPLIER QUALITY MANAGER

Location:
Hybrid role – role requires an average of approx. 2 days/week in Leeds Head Office. Remaining days flexible – can be home or office based. Occasional national and international travel to suppliers.

Hours of Work: 9:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: £60-80k depending on experience

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer

General Overview of Role

As our Procurement and Supplier Quality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the sourcing and procurement of components, materials, and services. You will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products at optimal costs. You will also be actively involved in the development of new products and help manage their lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the automotive industry, strong technical foundations, excellent negotiation skills and a proven track record in procurement and supplier quality management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement global procurement strategies and plans.
2. Supplier Identification and Evaluation:
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers capable of meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
3. Negotiation and Contract Management:
Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings, mitigate risks, and secure long-term partnerships. Draft (with our in-house legal counsel) and manage supplier agreements and protect the organisation's interests.
4. Daily Oversight of Supplier Performance:
Ensure supplier deliveries reflect forecasts and schedules, and address (potential) issues as required.
5. Supplier Quality Management:
Pro-actively work with suppliers to achieve and maintain quality standards, continuously review incoming product quality, and address quality issues with suppliers.
6. Cost Management:
Analyse market trends, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or service levels.
7. Supply Chain Optimisation:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams both within the business and within the supply chain, to optimise and improve operational efficiency.
8. Risk Mitigation:
Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions. Proactively address risks and issues related to quality, lead times, and supplier capacity.
9. Compliance and Ethics:
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies.
10. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor procurement performance and supplier metrics. Prepare regular updates for senior management to communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities.
11. Product Design & Development Support:
Work collaboratively with the product design and development teams to manage the product lifecycle and to ensure continuous innovation and improvement of the product portfolio.

Essential Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, or related field. Business qualification desirable.
2. 8-10 years of experience in Procurement, preferably in the automotive industry. In-depth experience in supplier sourcing and management.
3. Experience in Supplier Quality management and/or Automotive Engineering. Able to read and interpret technical (CAD) drawings.
4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
5. Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to make executive decisions when required.
6. Familiarity with high-end automotive market trends and industry standards.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Full, clean UK driving license.
